Outpatient Services

Our Approach

We assist individuals, couples, and families ages 4-65 who are experiencing difficulty with managing mental health and/or behavioral disorders. We match our clients to the most appropriate therapist to meet their needs and focus on building the best therapeutic relationship so that they will feel safe and comfortable on their healing journey.

In addition, we are now providing substance abuse services through our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for individuals experiencing those types of challenges.

If you have tried outpatient therapy before and it didn’t feel right, please come and experience the Dominion Outpatient difference.

Substance Abuse - Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

What is IOP?

  • IOP is provided to individuals who do not require the intensive level of care of inpatient, residential, or day treatment services, but do require more intensive services than outpatient services.
  • IOP is provided in a concentrated manner, and generally involves multiple outpatient visits per week over a period of time.
  • These services include monitoring and multiple group therapy sessions during the week, as well as individual and family therapy as needed.
  • Therapy sessions provide education about the effects of alcohol and other drugs on the physical, emotional, and social functioning of the individual; relapse prevention; and occupational and recreational activities.

Admission Criteria:

  • Prior to admission into IOP, individuals will receive a thorough substance use evaluation following the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) criteria.  This evaluation will assess:
    • Individuals must have a Substance Use Disorder
    • Individuals with a history of psychosis must be stabilized
    • Individuals must be high functioning enough to provide informed consent to treatment
    • Individuals must be a good fit for IOP, therefore clinically at risk if they were to receive treatment in a lower level of care
    • Individuals who receive medication assisted treatment are welcome

Dominion Outpatient Services also provides psychiatric medication management, marriage and couples counseling, family therapy, and individual therapy as part of the continuum of care for individuals afflicted with Substance Use Disorders.  Please see further information about these services below.
